By Manjusha Handa
Tu apni sochon ko udaan bharne to de zaraa,
Khayaal khud-b-khud ban jaayega!
in khayalon ki justa-ju mein jo uljha rahaa,
ho sakta hai, jeevan ka koi rahasyha sulajh jaayega!
Yeh khayaal hi to hai, jo duniya ko
wibhinn prakaaron mein darshata hai!
jeevatma hetu jo arth prakaashak hai,
waisi hi vyakhyaa karvata hai!
ya fir, jo swayam ke anurup hain
jaroortein,ichhayein, pratigyaein hain
lakshya, parinaam, abhipraayein hain
khayaal in hi ke ird-gird mandrata hai?
English Translation for the above poem -
A Thought
Put wings to your thinking and let it fly high,
An idea, on its own, will compose!
In quest of these thoughts, as you entangle by,
Maybe, one of life’s mysteries will disclose!
It’s this thought itself, which models the world,
In modes that are diversified!
For the self, what all is explanatory, it’s unfurled,
And it interprets it in such ways formalized!
Or else, all that's in accordance with self
All those Needs, Desires, and Obligations
And those Aims, Results, and Destinations
Does a thought merely revolve around this enclosed shelf?
